  • Recent Poll Shows Americans Oppose Cutting Funding of Iraq War
    Monday, February 19, 2007
Here's something you are not going to hear from the Main Stream News Media, a recent AP/Ipsos poll shows the American people do not support the war in Iraq or the troop surge.

However the same poll shows that the American people do not support cutting off the funding to the Iraq War or cutting off the funding for the troop surge:

Would you favor or oppose Congress cutting all funding for the Iraq war?

    _Favor, 29 percent

    _Oppose, 68 percent

    _Not sure, 3 percent

Would you favor or oppose Congress cutting funding for the additional troops President Bush wants to send to Iraq?

    _Favor, 38 percent

    _Oppose, 60 percent

    _Not sure, 2 percent

Nearly half of Democrats oppose cutting money for the additional troops and almost two-thirds of those who know someone who has served in Iraq oppose that idea.

The president has nudged support for the troop increase to 35% from 26% in early January. Sixty-three percent of those surveyed still oppose the increase.
